LET’S TALK IF EVERYONE DESERVES CUSTOM PHOTOGRAPHY
This summer’s series has been on how to become a premium priced Photographer, how to do In Person Sales, and all those most uncomfortable topics! Hopefully we are giving you tips on how to get over your fears, so that your photography can actually be a legit business, and not just a glorified hobby. Today we are going to be talking about whether or not everyone deserves custom photography.

So, here’s the thing…You start your business, you start with really low prices because you are just starting out, and you haven’t learned much of anything yet. But, then you start to realize that you need to make more money, which means you need to raise your prices. Then you hit a roadblock. You know you need to raise your prices, but you feel this tremendous amount of guilt if you raise your prices because you know that you, yourself, would not be able to afford your own prices. When you are priced out of your own bracket, that is really hard to not feel guilty about. And the truth is if you raise your prices, there are going to be people who cannot afford you.
EVERYONE DESERVES TO MAKE A LIVING
“I want to be a budget friendly Photographer.” “I don’t want people to not be able to afford me.” “I feel like everyone deserves Photography.”
We can trick ourselves into thinking that everyone deserves to have this service that we are offering. Family pictures and memories captured are so important, and everybody deserves these. But, not everyone deserves custom photography. That might sound mean, but there is a difference between need and want. The bottom line, custom photography is not something that we are all entitled to. Something that we are all entitled to is minimum wage. Yet, somehow we are willing to cut ourselves short of making even that. Everyone does not deserve custom photography, but everyone deserves to make a living. When we charge low prices, we are making less than minimum wage.
WHERE TO BEGIN
Where do you begin in starting to become a premium priced Photographer? We talked last week about where to start in charging higher prices. If you can figure out where you need to start and where you need to end up, you can begin inching your way there. You need to know that guilt cannot factor into your pricing. Why do we not expect to be paid a fair price?
So, does everyone deserve custom photography? No, they do not. Everybody should get family pictures, but they do not have to get them from you. If you want to learn more, grab our freebie!
