INTRODUCING: Whitney Bufton Photography
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE BUSINESS?
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THIS FIRST PICTURE?
After having my first baby, I needed something to get me out of the house every once in awhile to keep me sane! I have always loved Photography, so I decided to become a “photographer.” I asked my cousin if I could take some pictures of her, and this is one of my very first photos!
NOW THAT YOU ARE MORE EXPERIENCED, WHEN YOU LOOK AT THIS FIRST PICTURE, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS WRONG WITH IT?
First off, the editing is terrible! I’m not even exactly sure what I was going for with this, but it’s awful. Secondly, I didn’t even know anything about my camera. It was shot in Auto, and I must have got lucky on getting it somewhat in focus, because back when I first started, I didn’t know anything about being in focus or even where to focus my camera.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THIS SECOND PICTURE?
I now specialize in high school senior portraits and newborns. I feel like I am really starting to figure out my style of Photography style and editing style. Each of my seniors get their hair and makeup done before their shoot, and they also have the option to use boutique clothing items and accessories for their session if they would like. This helps to keep my Photography style a little more consistent, and show clients what my business is really about.
WHAT IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST THINGS THAT CONTRIBUTED TO YOUR GROWTH AS A PHOTOGRAPHER?
Photography courses, group, and friends. Before you start your business, get as much knowledge that you can before you begin. It will save you a lot of time and mistakes. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and learn for yourself.
I stopped photographing the things I didn’t enjoy and that were holding me back from becoming the photographer that I wanted to become. For me, that was families and children. I have many more dreams for my business, and hope to some day soon be able to accomplish those goals. Photography is my happy. Being able to help others freeze those special times in their lives, gives me so much satisfaction!
Thank you for sharing, Whitney! Beautiful improvement.
