Introducing: From Moments to Memories

How long have you been in the business?

7 years.

Can you tell us about this first picture?

This is of my youngest nephew. It was my first senior photo shoot in the summer of 2011.

Now that you are more experienced, when you look at this first picture, what would you say is wrong with it?

First of all, it was way too sunny/hazy! I should have had a reflector in front of him. Some of the background is blown out and the exposure is not great. The cropping is off, as it crops right at his arm joint. This was edited in Picasa, I didn’t even know what Lightroom or Photoshop was back then.

Can you tell us about this second picture?

This was a winter senior session I did in February. This is by far my favorite senior shoot I have done, besides my own daughter. The lighting and senior were both gorgeous. The weather was 10 degrees, but you would never know it!

What is one of the biggest things that contributed to your growth as a Photographer?

I would say just experience in general! I have always been open to trying new and different things. I just kept taking on more and more seniors, and kept getting better and better. I have done many courses online in my “off season,” and just watching and following other senior photographers. Hoping this will be my most successful season yet!

Thank you for sharing, Sheila! Beautiful improvement.
