Introducing: Aimee Anne Photography
How long have you been in the business?
Can you tell us about this first picture?
In 2014, I started getting the itch to start photographing more than just my kids; it was like a desire that was buried, coupled with so many people saying, “why don’t you do this professionally?” (The answer was because it was scary as heck and no way was I “good enough”). Winter 2014, before Christmas, I got the idea that I could take my kids, my nieces, and nephews photos as a gift for my in-laws. So, one morning, at about 11am (high, bright sun!) I took the kids out and did a little photo shoot.
Now that you are more experienced, when you look at this first picture, what would you say is wrong with it?
Ugh! Their skin is like plastic. The white-balance is off. It’s soft. It’s just generally over-processed. I probably applied any available preset!
Can you tell us about this second picture?
Same group of kids, same idea – a Christmas gift for the in-laws. However, this is three years and thousands and thousands and thousands of shutter clicks later. Countless hours of reading, studying, and practice. That combination has made a world of difference!
What is one of the biggest things that contributed to your growth as a photographer?
Practice. Definitely practice. A lot of studying – looking at different photography styles, finding what I like, what I don’t like. Figuring out what I truly wanted my style to be, and continuing to perfect it. My style has changed over the last few years as I continued to tweak and figure out what I really like.
Thank you for sharing, Aimee! Beautiful improvement.
