“I’m a professional, honey” said my friend’s sarcastically-smug yet talented wedding photographer.
I was new to the photography world, and hungry to learn all the ins and outs of the biz. So, when we had some down time, I asked “Mr. crabby-pants” how he learned to capture such great images.
Needless to say his rude response made a lasting impact on me.
Two years later, I found myself in the same situation yet the roles had reversed. Eager new camera owners sent me Facebook messages asking. “How do you get your pictures to look like that?” Expecting me to hand over all the tips and tricks I had perfected over the last 24 months. Like a mother bear protecting her cubs, I wanted to roar “Do you know how long I’ve worked to get my pictures to look like this? They look like this because I am a professional.” Luckily, I had enough self-control to keep Mrs. Crabby-pants in her cage. Instead, I handed-over the tricks I learned about lighting, exposure, composition, and editing-and you know what… I loved it!
I soon realized that teaching others fueled my passion.
For me, the only thing better than capturing a breath-taking picture, is helping other photographers get the images they always dreamed of, and so…The Snap Society was born.
The mission of The Snap Society is to help you grow in knowledge, get inspired, and become even more successful.
It is our desire to start a revolution of generosity. A place where we can recognize the great work of other photographers, learn from each other’s successes and failures, and have fun throughout the process. Not only will I be giving away my best tips and tricks, I will be challenging industry leaders to do the same through interviews and blog posts.

The Snap Society Team
Six years ago, my hobby of documenting the everyday life of my little ones bloomed into a thriving photography business (Jamie Larson Photography). My children have been my inspiration, and my husband has been my biggest fan.
I am passionate about photography, but even more than that, I enjoy motivating & mentoring others.
I LOVE going on family adventures, I eagerly wait for Friday dates with the love of my life, & I am addicted to learning & researching new things. I can rarely pass up a coffee date with a close friend, & I would much rather collaborate than do things alone.
Sidekick to the Master
I picked up my first camera when I was young, with no intention of ever turning it into a business. Years later (and 4 children) photography had become a true passion of mine. After my last son was born I was faced with the big decision…get a “real job” or give this photography business a shot and Anna Bartell Photography was born.
It wasn’t easy, it was a long journey with a lot of ups and downs but today I run a successful, profitable photography business. That long bumpy journey has given me a huge passion for helping and teaching other photographers how to skip all those mistakes and bumps in the road and go straight for success!
When I’m not busy with my photography, website design & teaching I’m usually up to my eyeballs in laundry (did I mention there’s 4 kids in this house?!) I prefer to ignore the laundry and spend time at the lake, on the beach or by the pool!
Savvy Social Specialist
When The Snap Society first came into existence, Katie stood out from the crowd. Always posting & encouraging others on our FB page. As I got to know Katie (through a mentoring session and emails) I knew she was the right fit to add to our team as our Savvy Social Specialist.
Katie is the owner of Katie Myrick Photography & lives in Northeastern North Carolina with her awesome husband (who was her 5th grade sweetheart) and her 3 kiddos. She has had wonderful Photographer friends and mentors who have helped her grow into the artist she is today. Now she is excited to pay it forward & be part of The Snap Society team, & we are excited to have her.
I first met Leah when she became my hubby’s Assistant. He has never stopped praising her awesome work ethic and talent at making sure things are done. When I was on the look-out for an assistant, I knew that Leah would be the right gal for the job.
When Leah is not tying up loose ends with The Snap Society, she is with her husband trying to keep up with their 3-year old daughter, or relaxing with a good book.
