LET’S TALK SWITCHING TO IN PERSON SALES!

This month has been all about In Person Sales! We’ve shared excuses we all make of why we can’t do IPS, and we’ve shared with you even more reasons why you can do IPS! Today we have a special guest with us! Her name is Rachael Venema from Rachael Venema Photography. Rachael took our Profitography course, so she is practically an In Person Sales expert by now! We interviewed Rachael to find out why she started IPS, and how her business has changed since she started doing IPS.

WHAT WERE YOUR FEARS ABOUT IPS?

The confidence to charge higher prices, what I needed to charge, and being confident in my work to charge those higher prices. IPS has pushed me to do better in my own business. I would have never thought that I would be doing and enjoying IPS, but I have a heart for serving people and IPS is a service. I am helping my clients to the best of my ability.

YOU DID TRY IPS BEFORE TAKING PROFITOGRAPHY, WHAT WAS THAT LIKE?

I had done a mentorship, and had on paper what I was sort of supposed to do with IPS. I had a lot of bits and pieces, but I didn’t have what I needed to make it flow. But, when I saw Profitography, it was exactly what I needed.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IPS LIKE AFTER TAKING PROFITOGRAPHY?

It was amazing! I knew exactly what I needed to get from my clients before the session. Everything just flowed way better. I was able to bring these beautiful packages and art my clients’ homes afterwards. After each session you do, you get more practice and experience which builds up your confidence. It doesn’t have to be this icky salesy thing. IPS is in person service, where you are coming to your clients and really serving them and giving them the whole experience.

WHAT WAS YOUR AVERAGE SALE BEFORE doing IPS? WHAT IS YOUR AVERAGE SALE NOW?

I was charging $125 a session and giving my clients 100 edited digital images. Now, I average $1200 a sale!

WHAT WAS IT LIKE FOR YOUR BUSINESS MOVING FROM A BIG CITY TO A SMALL TOWN?

So, I took Profitography and started implementing everything I learned into my business while I was living in Tennessee. I had an established customer base, but then my husband had a job change. We moved from a big city in Tennessee to a small town in Iowa. I started marketing as soon as we got settled, and word of mouth just started flying. In small towns, everyone knows everyone. I joined a local Photographer group, and they are all shoot and burn photographers. They started referring their clients to me because they were all booked. Their shoot and burn clients hired me because they all loved the process and experience I was able to give to them.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEBODY WHO IS HESITANT ABOUT IPS?

Don’t let your fear stand in your way! Get prepared. Take Profitography! Do what you need to do to get where you want to be. Don’t let fear stop you. IPS allows me to spend more time with my family, because I only need a few clients a month to meet what I need to make. It’s and amazing service to provide. At the first IPS when you watch your clients’ expressions when they say their images for the first time, just makes it all worth it!
