Coffee Talk: Why you CAN’T do In Person Sales

Coffee Talk: Why you CAN’T do In Person Sales

LET’S TALK EXCUSES! Excuses…we’ve all got them. Let’s talk about the excuses that we come up with on why we can’t do In Person Sales. We have not only heard all the excuses, we have made all the excuses ourselves! So, we totally understand why you feel like you cannot do In Person Sales. Today, we will be talking about all the reasons why you think you CAN’T do In Person Sales, and then we will tell you why you actually CAN.  I DON’T HAVE A STUDIO The number 1 reason why you can’t do In Person Sales is that you do not have a studio. How many times has it crossed your mind that you are not a professional photographer, that your business is failing, and that you just cannot do IPS because you do not have a studio?! This is so NOT true! Neither of us have ever had a studio yet we both are premium-priced photographers. We can come up with so many great excuses why we can’t do things, and not having a studio seems like a really legit excuse. So, how do you do IPS without a studio?! You go to the client’s home! You can absolutely be a premium-priced photographer and do IPS in a home. I AM NOT A SALESPERSON OR AN EXTROVERT The second reason why you can’t do In Person Sales is because you are not a salesperson, or you are not an extrovert, or you feel that you are socially awkward. We have heard and made this excuse before. You are afraid that your IPS session could just...
Coffee Talk: Things to do with Bored Kids

Coffee Talk: Things to do with Bored Kids

LET’S TALK WHAT DO WITH BORED KIDS! It’s summertime! The kids are out of school – how are we going to make it through the summer?! How many of you have ever had a kid come to you and say, “I’m bored”? In today’s Coffee Talk, we are going to give you some resources to help you keep your kids occupied this summer so you can get some work done! LET THEM BE BORED Have you ever noticed that kids have to get to a certain boredom point in order for them to become more creative? The first piece of really great advice is that sometimes the solution to bored kids is to do NOTHING and to let them get bored! When they are bored, that is when the magic happens. They start making things – Jamie’s son made about a million fidget spinners out of legos, and even some from things he found around the house. Kids also start having the funniest pretend play when they get super bored. They will go on crazy, fun adventures when they are only given the chance to start using their imagination!  EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES The summer should be mostly about play, but it is a good idea for kids to maintain the skills they left school with. Summer workbooks are great for them to sit down and work on for about an hour a day throughout the summer. This is a great way for them to use their brains before they are outside for the rest of the day.  We have tried out some educational websites for the kids to work...
Coffee Talk: Dealing with Kids

Coffee Talk: Dealing with Kids

LET’S TALK KIDS! What happens when you are trying to take pictures of a family, and the kids are completely unruly?! The whole time you are wondering if you are even going to get a good picture. We have already talked with how to help out the disgruntled dad, now it is time to talk about photographing kids without everyone losing their cool. We have a list a mile long of how many times we have met with some really unruly kids during our photo shoots. It’s completely normal to come up against a tough kid, because what kid really wants to have their pictures taken by a complete stranger?! TALK TO THE PARENTS The first thing you should do before a family photo shoot is to talk with the parents. Let them know that you will be worrying about getting the kids to smile and behave during the shoot. The worst thing is when the kids are being unruly, and the parents are trying to get the kids to pay attention, and then when the kids do smile the parents are not smiling! Talking with the parents beforehand let’s them know that they do not have to worry or stress about how their kids are behaving. They will enjoy the session and the pictures so much more when it’s your job to handle the kids instead of their’s. LET’S HAVE SOME FUN A great idea to get everyone smiling and having a good time is to start off your session without the camera. Just start playing with the kids, and get the parents involved. This helps the kids warm...
Coffee Talk: Dealing with the Difficult Dad

Coffee Talk: Dealing with the Difficult Dad

LET’S TALK DEALING WITH THE DIFFICULT DAD! This month we are talking about when things do not go smoothly during and after your photo shoots. So, there will be many types of dads that you will meet at your family photo shoots, and not all of them are the easiest to photograph. Today we are talking about what to do when the dad is kind of grump, and maybe he is even cramping your style. THE DADS So, you have got the dad who does not want to be there, and the dad who seems uncomfortable with his own kids. There is the dad who is super negative, and the dad who rushes everybody and gets annoyed with his kids. There is even the dad who is ready to go before he even gets there, and the disciplinarian, serious dad. When you get these dads showing up to a family photo shoot, it could be difficult to capture a fun memory for this family. WHAT YOU CAN DO Being assertive, giving direction, and making the family photo shoots flow is important for most dads. In the first couple of minutes you can feel out the dad to see if he wants to be there or not. If the dad does not want to be there, he can be almost as challenging as the kids. So, you have got to be on top of everything, and make sure that you get it all done within the hour. GETTING DAD TO RELAX AND HAVE FUN Start the session off by telling the parents that you will control the kids. Let...

Coffee Talk: Dealing with Seniors or Moms with Low Self Confidence

LET’S TALK DIFFICULT CLIENTS! Have you ever had a difficult client? The photo shoot was so much fun, the lighting was great, the location was amazing, and the weather was perfect. But, your client does not like how she looks in any of the pictures… What do you do?! This could be a senior or a mom, because as women, we all struggle with different issues. What can we do so that our clients can embrace who they are?! We are going to talk about ways to help your clients look and feel their best before, during, and after their photo shoots.   PRE-PREP STEPS The biggest confidence boost you can give your seniors, boudoirs, or moms is offering professional hair and makeup for their photo shoots. Whenever we get our professional pictures taken we always get our hair and makeup done – and boy do we look and feel beautiful! Having a professional do your clients’ hair and makeup will automatically give them a major boost in confidence.  A great tip is to show up towards the end of their hair and makeup session and ask them how they are feeling and if they like how they look. This gives them the chance to be 100% happy with their hair and makeup. Also, have a talk with your senior or your mom about hair and makeup, because if they are particular about the way their hair is done, maybe they just want their makeup done and vice versa. Have a Pinterest board of posing ideas and what to wear during the shoot. Posing tends to be the more...
